Through unforgettable songs, spectacular dancing and stunning archive film and photographs from Dartmouth Museum, Dartmouth's Wartime Sounds recreates the atmosphere of a community transformed by war – from the uncertainty of 1939 to the excitement of swing-filled dance halls, the arrival of thousands of American servicemen, and the build-up to D-Day. A night of music, dance and storytelling An outstanding eight-piece live band, featuring the wonderful Louise Parker on vocals, performs the songs that kept spirits alive during the war, while Jenny Thomas's acclaimed Lindy Hop and Swing dancers bring the dance floor roaring back to life.
